Increased penalties, liability is best for RESPA

Re: 'Industry slams HUD's RESPA proposal' (May 22)

Dear Editor:

Increasing penalties and allowing civil action against lenders and brokers will be the most effective step in bringing the industry to a higher level of performance.

All the rest is window dressing.
